Is there no such thing as a simple blog design?

I thought about blogging on Facebook and decided to set up a simple blog site. It seemed a simple process using the company shown at bottom of the page but I ended up buying a domain name and getting a page that has generic photographs moving sideways and a blurb at the bottom that I didn't write. I'm happy to spend $120 for someone to fix this but the professionals recommended by the company have not responded.
